Listening
Listening can form crucial connections, creating one’s trust, respect and confidence. In the article, “The Day I Zipped My Lips and Let My patient Talk” by Danielle Ofri, she explains how doctors sometimes lack listening to their patients. She then does somewhat of an experiment where she let her patient talk the whole time for the day and she found shocking results. She found that it was easier for her to diagnose and find the route of the problem and her patient to understand. People often feel like they are silents so giving them the ability to talk without interrupting, they often feel less stress and more of a connection to each other. In relation to perspective taking, the understanding one’s situation. Perspective-taking requires listening to understander what other people are telling about their own experiences. Though listening isn’t always the factor of perspective taking it does make a huge difference when really having an understanding of what they feel. When people talk and someone is listening without interruption, they feel the freedom to explain something further than they would’ve before. This, then makes perspective taking easier for people just by listening and understanding.
